Includes images of the research vessel in Honolulu, footage showing scientists and instruments, including a gravity corer, Edgerton bottom camera, piston corer, and an early model LaCoste and Romberg marine gravity meter. Includes scenes of Harrison measuring gravity on Howland Island, with pans of Howland Island and its inhabitants, a seismic shoot, and heat flow apparatus being lowered over the side and recovered. Those featured include scientists Harrison, Richard Von Herzen, Alan Jones, Russell Raitt, George G. Shor, and others, as well as images of the crew. Also includes footage of the Over the Line ceremony and a pan of Nanumea Island and islanders.
